No, Microsoft in all their wisdom, by not allowing valid work email accounts, forces you to make you create a personal email account to sign into Office and activate it, which if and when the person leaves employment, they still have access to. So, I cannot sign into Office Professional, using the work email address, for a work computer, paid for with work dollars.

I could understand if Office rejected a work email address for a copy of Office that is for Home users, or Student users, but this is Professional. Only Microsoft can change it. I signed in as the normal admin account, it didn’t work, I called Dell they said give it some time, I gave it over a week, called Dell again, they said maybe it got associated with the email of the person who placed the order, that’s me, so I signed in, it didn’t work, called Dell they said give it time, I gave it over a week, called Dell again, they tried registry hacks, uninstalling and reinstalling, and now have escalated it to L2, and I am still waiting on a fix.

This is so inefficient and wastes so much of my time. Not sure I am with you. If Dell installed your Office they have wrongly associated it with one of their Microsoft Accounts.

The other parts of the problem are Microsoft rejecting the valid, work email address with which I want to activate Office. Allowing me to sign into the Microsoft live account, but not letting me activate using the same information. Doing away with a system where I could manage and track licenses, and moving to this cumbersome and inefficient method where it ties activation to only certain accounts that fit their arbitrary rules.

You seem to be saying that the employee has left his employment and as such no longer has access to that work mail account that the original install of Office was associated with.

The company bought it, I signed in with the Microsoft Account for the company, it would not activate. At Dell’s suggestion I signed in with my work email account, since the purchase was made by me, and still it would not activate.

I want to be able to sign into and activate the Office Professional product that we have purchased using the work email address. I am able to sign into a Microsoft Live account for this particular user, but I cannot activate Office using the same credentials. I should be able to plug in a code and have it validate that code and tie it to the user account I choose. Here is the cycle, I open Office, it prompts me to sign in, one of the options is a work email address.
